About us

The Chatzigavriil family has been active in the food industry since 1988, offering bakery and pastry products, as well as catering services for events.

Nikolaos Chatzigavriil, in the early 20th century, used to make halva in Makri, Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey). Today, a century later, his great-grandchildren are rediscovering the family’s history and, by investing in cutting-edge technology, present Marathon Halva – Chatzigavriil Family.

The company operates from privately owned facilities spanning 600 square meters and has completed investments exceeding two million euros—entirely self-funded—in the vertical production and processing of sesame, tahini, and halva. At the same time, it continues to invest in green energy, with electricity production capacity of 100kW, making it energy self-sufficient.

It has an annual turnover reaching €2,000,000 and employs specialized personnel. Its products are exported to five European countries.

The company produces more than 600 items, including breads, puff pastries, snacks, syrupy desserts (such as kantaifi, baklava, etc.), patisserie goods, cookies, ice creams, Turkish delights, tahini, and over eighty flavors of halva.

It actively participates in and supports social and environmental initiatives.

The company has been featured numerous times in newspapers, magazines, radio, and television, and has been awarded for the quality and innovation of its products.

The halva is made from the finest varieties of sesame, which are cleaned, washed, roasted, and ground using a traditional stone mill, thus preserving all their nutritional value. The combination of excellent quality, expertise, and dedication to tradition brings to your table a handmade product of exceptional quality.

The company implements HACCP and ISO 22000 food safety management systems.
